Many people come to me already knowing which treatment they would like to experience, but if you are unsure then I am more than happy to discuss the options with you ~ what you would like to gain from the session, as well as your personal preferences will inform how we work together.
Massage
During massage treatments, therapists use different techniques, applying pressure and movement to the soft tissue in your body such as muscle, tendons, ligaments, and fibrous tissue, to ease tensions and pain.
Holistic massage is a wonderful full body treatment, providing an overall sense of wellbeing by relieving the build up of day to day tensions and stresses. This massage uses a gentle soothing touch and is a great way to aid relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage is brilliant for targeting specific areas/ muscles that are tight and tense, as well as for those who prefer a deeper level of contact. Compression as well as longitudinal and cross fibre muscle work is applied, with increased pressure on areas that require it – I may use my elbows / forearms as well as fingers thumbs and heel of my hands to access the deeper muscles.
The ‘deepness’ is entirely dependant on your comfort levels and a dialogue is encouraged to tailor the massage to your individual needs and preferences.
Hot Stones Massage is a truly luxurious treatment using warm stones and massage oil. A variety of smooth stones are used – these have been selected for their size, shape and ability to retain heat. The stones are warmed in hot water and are placed on specific locations on the body as well as being held in the therapist’s hands when they are used as a tool to massage with. The gentle heat is an aid to enhanced muscle relaxation and adds to an overall sense of comfort and well being.
Indian Head Massage is a wonderfully calming treatment that is performed on the scalp, head and tissues on the neck upper back, arms and face and is able to be either relaxing or invigorating depending on what feels right for you.
For this treatment you would remain fully clothed and sit on a chair and the use of oil is optional.
Chair massage is an option I offer for workplace settings. An ergonomic chair is used which provides access to the back, shoulders, neck and head, allowing for a comprehensive massage to reduce stress and tension and alleviate aches and pains ~ please see corporate massage tab/ page for full details
Cranio-sacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy offers gentle yet deep treatments that are suitable for all ages from birth through to end of life. Working with the natural rhythm of fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord – from the cranium to sacrum, this practice helps bring balance to the nervous system and supports the body to heal itself through releasing areas of both physical and emotional tension.
I trained at the college of craniosacral therapy and I generally I work in a biodynamic style – tuning in to the craniosacral rhythms and allowing the body to guide me to areas of restriction.
I can work with you towards a specific goal ~ focusing on particular areas of discomfort, and using a more bio-mechanical approach as well as fasical unwinding techniques, but with the understanding that the whole body is connected so the work for one part of the body may take place from another.
I work with hands placed lightly on the body in various positions, you will remain clothed throughout so it’s important to wear something comfortable non restrictive.
ENS
Essentially, this is a natural medicine that uses electronic frequency to support the body to heal itself.
The frequencies work with the central nervous system and readings taken along the spine show us the areas where we need to focus on. During the treatment, the Ens device uses the frequencies to communicate to the brain, stimulating restoration and repair on a cellular level. The brain then responds to this feedback and distributes the correct hormones and nutrients to rebalance and restore cellular function where it’s needed. It is a fantastic tool to aid healing and health restoration and is best combined with well considered changes to diet and lifestyle
Ens Cosmodic technology works at a cellular level, so it is appropriate to work with both chronic and acute conditions. Please see Ens tab/ page for more information and FAQs
